The Crafty Hat: Gift Package Idea

Gift wrap is so expensive these days. So, imagine my excitement when I found a way to personalize gift wrap – for free. Here’s what to do: Take solid wrapping paper and wrap your gift. Then, hole punch paint chips into fun shapes. Perfectly position the paint samples along the top of your package, adhered […]

The Work Hat: A Gesture that Rocked

Here’s a sweet (pun intended) professional gesture that rocked my world! Katelyn is a new Marketing Manager who joins our team soon. Today, she delivered one dozen Sprinkles Cupcakes to our office. The cupcakes featured a sweet note that read See you soon. How cool is that?! Oh, and if you’re wondering … I ate […]

The Mom Hat: I Hope She Doesn’t Mind

I hope when Kelsey grows up, and sees this blog, that she doesn’t mind how much I’ve expressed my joy for her in writing. I recently heard Ellie Goulding’s rendition of “Your Song” by Elton John and I thought: this is it! This is exactly how I feel. You saw this blog post, right? This song […]

The Thankful Hat: Just The Way She Is

I love the way she walks. I love the way she talks. I love the way she is. I love the way she looks at me when she is up to no good. I love the way she says, “no no wall” when she runs into the wall. I love the way she calls Logan […]

The Travel Hat: 1.5 million bats!

When in Austin, you have to visit the Congress Avenue Bridge around sundown to see a swarm of bats surface. No joke. There is about 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats that live under this bridge.

I wouldn’t arrive any earlier than 8pm or any later than 8:30pm. After the first round of bats migrate from under the bridge – stick around – there is an encore about 10 minutes later. Make sure you park nearby (we paid $7!) and walk to the center of the bridge to see this Austin tourist sight. It’s one-of-a-kind.

We stayed on top of the bridge, but you can jump on a boat, a kayak or even a swan to see the bats fly over your head. No thank you. But, these people looked like they were having fun. (click the images to enlarge)

The next day, Ryan went under the bridge (freaky) to see if he could see the bats. No luck. I wonder what he would have done if he did see them?

The Travel Hat: Austin Restaurants

Since my brothers live in Austin, they were able to point us in the right direction when it came to restaurants we would love. We wish we had more time to experience the city, but by the looks of our restaurant list, we did pretty well. Here is a peek into the many restaurants we […]

The Mommy Hat: Kelsey Goes to Target

We took our bug to Target. To our surprise, she did not want to ride in the cart. Instead, she wanted to push the cart. Yes, our little 17 month old knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want. She kept looking up at daddy (who was trying to steer the cart) and would yell, “No Dadda!”

We had to laugh.

The Travel Hat: Austin, Texas!

We arrived in Austin last week. I was attending a Marketing Summit at the W Austin, one of the best downtown hotels in Austin and we decided to arrive early to make a mini vacation out of it (Kelsey stayed with her grandparents). More photos of our amazing time in Austin to come. In the […]

The Working Mom Hat: Queen for a Day

So, I’m in Austin for a conference and I just came up to my hotel room to freshen up before dinner. I open my inbox and what do I see: an image of Kelsey bug from school. She was “Queen for a Day”!  Click to enlarge.   Her daycare just sent me this photo, which absolutely […]
