And now you know

Want to learn something new? Humidifiers (even the cold ones) can set off smoke alarms. Ask me how I know. Well, I know because at 2am last night Ryan and I woke up to the sound of a loud, “Beep. Beep. Beep.” We quickly learned how unprepared we are in the case of a real fire because we looked at each other in a daze and said, “Huh?”

I turned off my phone (thinking my alarm was going off). He ran downstairs looking for what was beeping. Is the refrigerator open? Finally, like 2 minutes later (like I said, now we know) we realized it was the smoke alarm. We opened Colton’s room and there it was, beeping as loud as can be. Ryan grabbed the world’s largest ladder and unscrewed the darn thing.

Turns out Colton’s humidifier set it off. Which then set him off. And Colton and I were awake from 2am – 4:30am last night. Then I got up for work at 5:15am. That was fun. This morning, Ryan had us practice our drill because based on last night, we totally sucked at responding.
