Newborn Photos with Baby Clementine

scottsdale newborn photographer
This is the only photo I’ll post because I want Teri to be the first to post them all, but I had to share one of my favorite moments from Clementine’s newborn baby photoshoot last weekend.

She’s 4 weeks old (and born a preemie) so we wanted to wait to take her photos until she was a bit stronger. She’s already 7lbs and simply perfect. She let Teri and Danny cuddle her, change her, wrap her head in bows … whatever, she was so chill.

Nothing like my baby girl, I’ll tell you that. Seeing your friend in her zone was truly the best part of my day. Welcome to the world, baby Clementine.

Teri’s Gorgeous Arcadia Baby Shower

I joke that I have been trying to get my friend, Teri pregnant for years! The time has finally come, as she and Danny are expecting their first bundle of joy in November. They aren’t going to find out the gender so it’s been incredibly hard to contain myself from indulging in girl clothes (that’s my guess!) and tons of pink and purple shenanigans. And even though it’s killing me not to know, I’m super proud of them for sticking to their guns and doing this their way.

This past Saturday, our mutual friend Rachel, owner of Outstanding Occasions and event planner extraordinaire, hosted the most magical baby shower at her home. Rachel went over the top to ensure every little detail was as beautiful and as personal as the next. It was the perfect afternoon to celebrate one of the coolest couples we know. If you are fortunate enough to know Danny and Teri then you know their baby is going to be one lucky girl. Or, boy.

Below are a few photos I captured from Teri’s special day.

Meet Rachel. She put on such a wonderful event – I have no idea how she did it, while keeping up with her 10-month-old son at home, but that’s why we call moms like this, Super Moms.

It was a One Hope Wine kind of day. I love One Hope (mostly because I’m drinking for a great cause – check out more here) but I had no idea they make Champagne too. Until this moment, that is. Thanks to Colby for making sure our glasses were always half full.

Can we pause and just look at how BEAUTIFUL this mama is? She is seriously glowing from the inside out. I was secretly hoping she’d be just like me … gain 60lbs, have stretch marks, horrible cravings and super swollen ankles so we could talk about how much pregnancy sucked together later … but, that’s not the case. Proof in the fact that her ankles are perfect and that’s not even a maternity dress. I sigh.

T – I am so incredibly happy for you. You and Danny are going to be amazing parents! Ryan and I can’t wait to get our hands on your little one, we love you both so much. Congratulations, friend!

Happy 1st Birthday, Nolan!

My youngest son, Nolan Ryan turns one today! I can’t believe it has already been one year. This time last year, I was in the hospital getting ready to welcome the third addition to our family. A healthy (and huge!) baby boy.

Nolan is truly the kindest, gentlest child. The kids call him “nugget” and somewhere along the way, Colton started calling him “Justin.” Who knows why. Nolan is so easy going, has 10 teeth (wow!) and just started walking all over the place.

We never had to baby proof the house with the other two kids and yet Nolan is into everything. The toilet. The cabinets. The stairs. He’s all over. He is a tough little dude with no fear. Even though he’s sweet and kind, and totally easy going, if you take something away from him he’ll scream in the same high octave that his brother Colton can reach. It’s ear piercing and lets you know to back off immediately.

He is my little man and together we have made some of the best memories. I am truly going to miss the baby stage. The long nights waking up with him and soothing him back to bed. The cradling in my arms.  The snuggles at night. His first steps. His first tooth. His first sounds. ButI know that we have so much to look forward to!

We can’t wait to see your personality evolve, buddy and to get to know you even more. You are the light of our life and mean so much to each person in this family. This time last year, we were all waiting for you and so thankful for your arrival. Your brother and sister adore you so much and your dad and I love seeing you all together. Happy first birthday, Nolan. You have our love, forever and ever and ever.

Nolan’s First St. Patrick’s Day

When you’re the baby of the family, not a moment goes by where someone isn’t poking, tickling, cuddling, squeezing or loving on you. Tonight was no exception. It was Nolan’s first St. Patrick’s Day and while I was snapping a photo of the crew, the kids did this.

I don’t know what it is about Nolan, but he is just so cuddly. Maybe it’s because he’s my baby and I just can’t get enough. When I was pregnant with him, I would sneak away from parties & events and have quiet moments with him. Usually, I would sneak out onto a porch and just sit, rub my belly, and talk to him without distraction. Now that he is born I am keeping this tradition alive. I call it our little “sneak aways.” During dinner tonight, we had a “sneak away” and Ryan caught us having a special moment.

Nolan’s Baby Vintage Tuxedo

baby clothes mom blog

I know, I know. This is very stage mom of me to dress my itty bitty three-week old baby boy in a tuxedo, but this isn’t just any tuxedo. This is the same tuxedo that both of my younger brothers came home from the hospital in. In the 80’s. Which means, Nolan is actually wearing a ‘vintage’ tuxedo. What you can’t see is the fact that he can’t straighten his legs. It’s a bit tight. But how could I not squeeze him into this? It was a moment that I couldn’t resist.

Baby Nolan is here!

He arrived! “Baby Nolan” – as the kids call him – is finally here. He arrived at 5:40pm on Tuesday, September 8th. He weighed a whopping 10 lbs, 3 ounces and was 23 inches long. A record in the Cross household. You guys, I can’t even begin to describe the magic that is happening in my heart right now. I am overwhelmed with love and joy. Nolan completes our family. He really does. Ryan and I are so incredibly lucky that God has given us this responsibility, and we will not let Him down.

Ryan, Nolan and I stayed two nights in the hospital. These two nights are so special to us, just as they were with the other two kids, as it is our time to connect, bond, (recover!) and get to know our newest bundle. I have some of THE BEST memories between those four hospital room walls. Memories that Ryan and I will keep forever and ever. There was laughter until you peed your pants (literally), great conversation, late night pizza runs and some hilarious stories that I’ll keep just between Ryan and I.

Today marks week 1 of Nolan’s life and day two of my maternity leave. Ryan went back to work already (let’s get dads some paternity leave, shall we corporate america?) so it’s just us two all day until the kids and the hubbie come home in the evening. Boy, am I blessed. I get this child all to myself. My heart may just burst with joy.

Thank you for all of your texts, prayers, phone calls, well wishes and messages. We are so grateful for friends & followers like you. Here are a few pictures of Kelsey and Colton meeting their new baby brother for the first time. My father-in-law took these precious snapshots two hours after baby Nolan was born.

I will never (ever, ever, ever) forget this day.

Baby Boy Celebratory Breakfast

DSC067552

We had a bright, baby boy brunch at Scottsdale’s Morning Squeeze this morning! My co-workers and I gathered around for iced coffee, Eggs Benedict, omelets, strawberry crepes and double chocolate ganache cake! Yes, cake at 9am.

You see, sometimes your co-workers turn into great friends and that’s the case with mine. My Starwood marketing family truly outdid themselves this morning as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of baby Nolan and my colleague, Nancy’s soon-to-be son.

Two cakes for two babies on the way! We have to give credit where credit is due. Andrea is our resident baker. Isn’t she amazing? She did Dayna’s baby shower cake too (seen here) and even came prepared with to-go boxes! Not joking. I literally took home half of this cake. I may have already dabbled in a second piece. Shh.

They gifted us soft swaddle blankets, the cutest honest diapers, and a little somethin’ somethin’ just for mom. Hello, Nordstrom. The most important part was we were all together. It’s actually pretty amazing that I’ve celebrated all three kids with this group. 7 years at a company and some of these ladies have seen me through all of these babies.

I have 13 days until my due date. The panic is starting to sink in a bit – are you ever ready? Even if this is my third child, there’s really no good way to prepare yourself for a new human to come into your life. However, I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. And moments like this one just make it feel more real.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Dayna, Melissa, Andrea(s), Allison, Brittany, Nancy, Dani, Kristina, Tania, Heidi, Meagan, Jill and Karla. You really know how to make a girl feel blessed. Nolan is a lucky little guy.

19 Days to Go

many hats of a mom blog

Less than three weeks before my due date! I can’t tell you how ready we are. I just want to see Nolan’s face! And cuddle. And smell him. And kiss him. Hug him. Feed him. Love him. I see people on social media posting pictures of their babies all of the time and it makes me that much more anxious to meet mine.

Our dear friends, The Barker’s, hosted a sweet little “sprinkle” for Nolan last weekend. A sprinkle is a mini baby shower, and typically what you do after you’ve already had a child already. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends.

The kids played outside in the scorching 105 heat with a bunch of water toys and an inflatable kids pool. Well, most the kids. Colton got sunscreen in his eye, so he decided to stay inside with his mama and eat all of the bagels, sausage and other breakfast treats. Can’t say I blame him, it was good stuff. Here are a few pictures from our day.

All I wanted was a picture with these two together, but Colton decided that wasn’t necessary. Kelsey tried to help and kept picking him up and carrying him over to the bed. As you can see, we didn’t get a picture of them sitting down – but, that’s okay – I think this one is much better anyway. I can’t believe we’ll be adding another personality to the mix soon. Nolan, we’re ready for you!
