A Brand is Born: REVEL Wedding Co.

I’m so excited to let you in on a project we’ve been working on for the past few months! Samantha Glascock is a luxury wedding planner in Scottsdale who coordinated my brother’s wedding in San Diego and my sister’s wedding in Phoenix. Samantha is such a talented wedding planner – but most importantly, she is honest, real, hilarious and makes every situation more fun just by being involved.

When Sam came to me asking if my marketing agency SEE IT SIDEWAYS would help her bring her vision to life it was a no-brainer to get involved. We worked through her brand positioning and helped design her a logo that reflected the dynamic brand that is REVEL. The script font is actually her handwriting that was turned into a font – which I just love because it exudes the distinct one-of-a-kind experience that you get when you work with REVEL.

I’m telling you, she’s a creative visionary and I’m so incredibly proud to know this girl.  Any brides out there? Email Sam directly here for information on her luxury wedding planning services.

We Arrived in San Diego!

THE US GRANT San Diego Hotel

After a quick airplane ride on Thursday, we landed in sunny San Diego for my brother’s wedding. As we were waiting to check into The US GRANT Hotel, we met up with my brother and his fiancé in the hotel lobby. We were the first wedding guests to arrive so we were able to have these two love birds all to ourselves for a few hours. I soaked in every moment of that!

Before heading out to grab lunch with these two, we took a quick sneak peek at the Crystal Ballroom where they were going to be getting married a few days later, and the black/white bridal room where the wedding party would hang out in between pictures. My pictures do not do this room justice – its gorgeous and “so Shaun” as my friends & family would say.

Just look at those chandeliers! They were on the ceiling, hanging from the walls, everywhere. It made for such a dramatic effect. During the ceremony, they placed a gorgeous white runner down the aisle with rose pedals. The room illuminated “love” and was truly perfect. Let’s make that PERFECT (all caps!).

The bride, Sabrina, just glowed. First off, her hair was perfect (and it’s real!) and she looked like she was shining from the inside out. You could tell she was ready to marry this man. Kelsey & Colton were so excited to see their Uncle Shaun and I was really excited to have made it to San Diego without having a baby on the plane. <insert sigh of relief>

More photos to come.

Getting ready for a wedding

little boy tuxedo

Not just any wedding, my little brother’s wedding!!! I can’t handle my excitement. I feel like it was just yesterday that they got engaged, but nope – it’s been about one year and we are all ready to see these two walk down the aisle.

Kelsey is a flower girl and Colton will following right behind in a tuxedo!!! We took Colton to go buy his tuxedo last week and I honestly wasn’t sure how he would react. My assumption was that he would hate it. But it was just the opposite!

He put it on like a champ and then walked out – rather ran out – of the dressing room to show his big sister his new outfit. It was actually good insight before the wedding because he treated this like a costume; once it was on, he turned super hyper running around like a super hero. Yikes. We’ll have to tone that down before the Big Day. But … back to Colton and this little tuxedo. My heart is going to explode.

I also found my great-grandma’s white beaded evening purse that Kelsey will wear (pictured, above). How special is that? Between her looking like an angel, Colton and this bow tie, my husband in a suit, and my family all surrounded around my brother and his fiancé – it’s going to be the perfect day. I just know it! Let’s just hope I don’t go into labor. Ha. Joking. Kind of.

Sabrina’s California Bridal Shower

Amongst all the bridesmaids (yep, there’s ten of them – two not pictured) and the gorgeous bride (center, in white) there are three little flower girls in this photo. Kelsey included. If this moment captured is any indication of how this wedding is going to go, Sabrina and my brother, Shaun, will have the wedding of the year!

It was such a beautiful weekend in Newport Beach, showering my soon to be sister-in-law with love and presents. My mom and I took Kelsey out for a girls-only weekend and in addition to the bridal shower, we found time to go to the beach, get mani/ pedis, shop and dine out with Sabrina’s family. More pictures to come, but for now – here are a few favorites from the bridal shower.

Seriously (and I mean this from the bottom of my heart) it was one of the best bridal showers I’ve been to. So much love & laughter. We were celebrating my brother’s future wife, after all, so that played a huge role in how amazing the day was for my mom and I.

The cutest Kate Spade bag you ever did see! One her best friends gave her this bag (she added the scarf) and you’re supposed to write in fabric pen your new last name. Great bridal shower gift idea!

Above this picture is Kelsey and her “new friends” – Taylor and Riley. They are also flower girls. Kelsey was super shy at first, but within about 20 minutes these girls were playing games by the pool and take pics with each other. See Riley trying to put her arm around Kelsey? Instant friends.

I love you so much Sabrina, but you totally sucked at the games. She got about 3 questions right from, “How well does my groom know me?” Here she is with a giant wad of bubble gum in her mouth (she had to chew a piece for every wrong answer) thinking about her next question.

And here we are, six months pregnant and counting. There’s no hiding this pregnancy anymore, Nolan was there in all his glory. This was truly a wonderful weekend. We are so thankful to all of Sabrina’s friends & family for making this a day to remember. Next up, the wedding!

Wedding venues that may surprise you

Know anyone getting married? As part of my day job, I have been leading the wedding marketing plan for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. In doing so, I feel like a bride all over again. What’s not to love about the wedding industry – the decor, the flowers, the frills and thrills.

I’ve been researching the industry for the past 5 months in preparation for our plan to launch and I have to tell you, we sure have some of the best wedding venues out there. Some of the destinations below are no-brainers (hello … St. Regis Bahia Beach) but some may surprise you. I’ll give you a peek into some of my wedding research and some of my favorite Starwood wedding venues.

The Friendship Hat: Boys Night Out

Friday night was boys night out. Brandon, Yearwood, Barker, Dan and Ryan hit a round of local breweries in celebration of Brandon’s upcoming nuptials. Eek. I can’t believe he is getting married! He’s such a great guy who cares so much for his friends. He’s found a great girl who makes him incredibly happy (and keeps him in check). We’re so happy for you and Julia, B! We can’t wait to celebrate this fall.

The Sister Hat: Something Borrowed

You can’t put a price tag on the friends you meet, the bonds formed and the lifelong memories made when you join a college sorority. This past weekend (as you heard) I attended my sorority sister’s wedding.

As her something borrowed, Colby wore my wedding earings. I was honored. And secretly really excited because Teri also wore these earings on her wedding day. These white topaz and diamond studs have made their way into three extraordinary moments in our lives. Thank you to my mother-in-law for gifting me these rockin’  jewels, which allowed us to sparkle on our wedding days.

Here they are, as seen in my wedding in 2008 …

and at Teri’s wedding in 2009 …

and now at Colby’s wedding in 2011.

The Friendship Hat: A Bridal Weekend

This is a picture of Colby – we had just surprised her with a suite room at The Cosmopolitan in Vegas for her bachelorette party. Well, the joy continues this weekend because she is getting married in San Diego!! Seeing your friend walk down the aisle is so amazing and Ryan and I are on our way to celebrate! Nanni and Grandpa are taking great care of baby bug while we’re at the wedding. Wahoo.
