Ever Since I got Home …

I know it’s just a phase, and Ryan keeps telling me not to take it personal, but Kelsey hasn’t been the same around me lately. When I raise my voice at her (only because I’ve asked her to do something 10 times and she is ignoring me) she barks back that, “I’m a bully,” and she says things like, “I love you mom, but you are so mean.”

Heartbreak.

Like, it literally tears my heart to shreds that she thinks I’m a bully. Is she acting like this because I was out of town working for 3 days? Or because she is four going on fourteen? Or because she is mad at me about something? I haven’t been able to figure it out. I hope it ends soon because it’s not fun. Ryan thinks she’s just in a daddy-phase. I sure hope so because I don’t like being the bad cop.

Right before dinner, I asked her if I could take her picture. “Smile, Kelsey,” I said, to which I always get some sort of smirk. And tonight? Well, this is what I got. What gives?

  1. It’s because she’s four, going on 14… My daughter is the same, she started the back talking about that age. We’ve really tried hard to nip it in the bud. She’s 5 now and it is still going on, but she does it more when she’s tired, having a rough day or has watched too much TV.

    1. You’re so right! She didn’t have a nap that day and was a disaster. On Sunday, she napped for 3 hours and was a completely different person. Good call.
