Mimosas + a Million Dollar Listing

We attended our first client event today! Real estate agent, Lauren Emig was having her first Broker Open House and asked us if we would like to attend. My marketing agency SEE IT SIDEWAYS created a website to help Lauren sell this Silverleaf home and created a social media campaign around the Broker Open House so we ran at the opportunity to come see this house in the flesh.

This house is unreal. Even the garage was nice! The owner furnished the home just for the sale (can you imagine?) and my little nosey self-peeked in the backyard to find Restoration Hardware boxes near the trash so you know this home is styled inside and out to the nines. Check out the 3D tour here (it’s a really cool tour, not one of those cheesy ones).

Excuse me while I pretend I work here for a second. Could you imagine if this was your home office? I would never leave work.

So far, this owning-your-own-business gig is off to a wonderful start.

What Day One (at your own company) Feels Like

Day one of anything is a bit scary. It’s like walking up to the high dive when you’re little and knowing that you have to jump off the diving board otherwise you’ll be the silly girl who climbs down backwards off the ladder until she’s in a safe place. Been there. Getting outside of your comfort zone is no easy task. But, we’re ready! My business partners and I have been hustling the past few days and working harder than ever.

One of our newest clients is J and J Design Group – they are amazing interior designers, HGTV collaborators and fellow women entrepreneurs that kick butt at what they do. We are so excited to be working with fellow creatives and have already begun to pick which items in their shop we MUST have for our children’s rooms. If you haven’t already seen their work – check out their designed rooms here – and – oh my gosh, do check out their Modern Kids Rooms.

FOUND DESIGN // WHERE ANTHROPOLOGIE MEETS POTTERY BARN

Found

Found Interior Design

There’s a new store in town called Found. Appropriately named, because the minute I walked into this store I thought to myself. “I found it!” I found the most inspiring home & decor store that I’ve stepped into in a long time. Found Design is like Pottery Barn meets Anthropologie. It’s rustic. It’s cool. It’s modern. Best of all, it’s filled with items that I want in my home. Just take a look!

Just look at this wallpaper! I want it so badly. It would be perfect for a home office or even a dining room. Am I right? I literally walked around this store and said, “I want that. I want that. I really want that. Ooooh, that would look so good in my house.” The store just opened in Chandler (Ray & Chandler Rd.) about 2 weeks ago so if you live in the area, you’ll have to check it out.

Now do you see what I mean? The store is beautiful. There is an area to the left, right when you walk in, that displays merchandise that’s a bit more modern. But as you can see from my lens, I was drawn to their rustic home decor. Kind of makes you want to host a dinner party, doesn’t it?

“A perfectly kept house is the sign of a misspent life.” Why, thank you little book for giving me the reassurance I need that my house (which looks more like a kids toy store these days) is indeed proof that we are having fun around here.

I hope you enjoyed this little photo tour. If you’re an interior designer, decorator, home entertainer or just someone who loves pretty things, I’m sure you can appreciate why I got so inspired today. Make sure you stop in and check out Found Design Co. If you can’t make it in, you can find them online (here). We’ve got to support our local shops.

Ice, Ice, Baby!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the 2014 Inner Circle Experience (ICE) at the St. Regis Bal Harbour. This was an inaugural event created by Sade Awe, the founder of The Bridal Circle. She invited about 50 of the most influential wedding planners, event designers, florists, Catering Managers, stationary companies and motivational speakers to attend a luxury marketing conference in Florida.

I scored an invite because I manage the wedding marketing initiatives for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and because Sade Awe and I have become great partners this past year marketing select St. Regis properties. Before I go any further, if you are an event planner … props to you! You are truly some of the most creative people that I have worked with. I really enjoyed meeting each and every one of you.

Our event started with a welcome reception and meet and greet with Alexis Maybank, founder of Gilt. Then, a welcome lunch at J&G Grill at the St. Regis resort. I sat with Kellie from The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, Amy from Amy Mancuso Weddings and Anna with the Cove Atlantis. The brainchild behind the florals, the centerpiece and the event décor was Jose Graterol Designs.

After lunch we listed to presentations from Alexis with Gilt; Beth Hayden, author of PinfluenceCindy Novotny, and more. Instead of chairs (I mean … by this point everything was over the top and the day had just started) we were made comfortable with white suede couches, colorful pillows, St. Regis Butler service and plenty of delicious treats.

After a day full of meetings, we were welcomed to a sunset reception at the resort. There was music, drinks, great food and lots of networking going on. There was also a full moon and not a cloud in the sky.

Meanwhile, my husband was dealing with the largest rainstorm in Arizona history. No, really. The streets were flooded. I tried reeeeally hard not to socially share any photos from this evening as I felt horrible that I was enjoying a great night while he was stuck indoors with two crazy toddlers.

Amy Mancuso and I really hit it off. We were the only two girls representing Arizona so we had to stick together. Amy is such a wild and crazy, talented and fun woman who made this experience that much more enjoyable for me.

Let’s talk about this food for a second. Amazing! This guy is a culinary genius, I know I told you all about his book in this post, but seriously you guys … this food was like a slice of heaven (and it was pretty fun to photograph too).

The next morning the Inner Circle Experience continued with more presentations from top executives and luxury companies. The room was transformed again into a beautiful and botanical space, with succulents and lots of glam (look at the ceiling!). We heard from companies like Starwood (hurray!), Jo Malone London, Fabergé (you know … the infamous Easter egg), and motivational speaker, Simon T. Bailey.

Lunch was another WOW factor … perfectly designed and great food. I sat with Simon Bailey, Beth Hayden, Amy Mancuso and Marley Majcher, celebrity event planner and founder of The Party Goddess … we both have little girls so we had fun swapping stories of our diva daughters.

After lunch we broke into roundtables, where I got to ask and receive professional advice from Simon in an intimate setting. He was remarkable … everything you would expect in a motivational leader. We had fun making a video for my boss (who loves his work), which I’ll share with her when she gets back from her fancy vacation in Rome, Paris and Italy (me = jealous).

After another day full of meetings, we got all dolled up for an evening to remember. A formal gala. There was a cocktail reception followed by a plated meal, dinner, dancing and lots of great music by Rock with U Entertainment. I would 100% recommend these guys for any event. They were incredibly talented and got us on the dance floor, even before dinner was served!

This is the St. Regis Bal Harbour crew – from the Catering and Sales Managers to the Director of Sales & Marketing – they make up a great group of women and we are lucky to have them working with St. Regis.

Ceci Johnson (Ceci New York) - Stephanie Cross (St. Regis)
I loved meeting up with Ceci Johnson with Ceci New York, you know her work. I know you do. Just click here and see some of the couture wedding invitations that she puts together. Follow her on instagram too – you’ll get a peek into some of the custom watercolor prints she makes and you’ll feel a bit more inspired with her every post.

And that’s a wrap! Sade said at the beginning of the conference, “How do I wow people who do wow for a living?” Well, my friend. You just nailed it. Until next year …

Quick trip to Santa Monica

This hotel was designed like a W hotel but much smaller and quieter. The vibe felt like a mix between an art gallery and a coffee house (and that’s exactly what they wanted it to be). I visited Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica hotel this week for work. I toured the hotel and saw the aftermath of its multi-million renovation – it’s beautiful!

They had a beach cruiser parked outside and I was so tempted to skip the meeting and cruise down to the beach. But, I resisted. My iPhone photos make the hotel look much darker than it was. It was cool, sleek, sophisticated and oh-so Santa Monica. Check it out next time you’re in town.

The Little Market by Lauren Conrad

I admit it. I follow Lauren Conrad’s blog. I actually find myself relating to a lot of what she talks about. I’m totally late to the party but I just learned about her initiative called, The Little Market. Together with her best friend, Hannah, Lauren travels the world  building sustainable partnerships with local woman artisans in developing countries.

The goal is to source lovely handcrafted products made by artisans groups that employ women. In turn, this helps to empower deserving women artisans to rise above poverty and support their families. Meanwhile, it exposes people like you and me to beautifully handcrafted products that have a story to tell.

I love the cause, I love the idea of The Little Market and I love the featured products in their shop. There are so many great products online, but I’m partial to these coffee mugs made in Tunisia by Le Souk Ceramique. I just can’t decide – two or four? All one color or a mix? Decisions. Decisions.

Suite photos I just had to have

Because my job is amazing (sorry, but it is) I get to work with some of the best hotels in the industry. Some I directly work with and others I stare at from a distance in awe. Like the St. Regis New York – the first St. Regis to open its doors back in 1904. Oh, how lovely it is. The heritage behind the brand … well, that’s something worth looking up. It’s a pretty cool story about the Astor family.

Anyway, part of my job is to source good imagery for marketing email campaigns. Images that make you want to book a stay at our hotels. While I was doing this, I came across some amazing photos of the suite entrances, hotel corridors and interior rooms of this hotel. Something about these photos caught my eye.

It’s the architecture, the welcoming entrance, the colors of the doors. They are all so intriguing. I ended up printing some of these photos for my own office. I just have to find some frames that do them justice and then I’ll be able to stare at these pretty images all day.

Makes you want to visit, doesn’t it?
