Rosé popsicles and 120 degree summers!

It’s a gazillion degrees in Phoenix. I won’t sit here and give you that sob story, but once it reaches 120 degrees (like it did last Tuesday), I can’t help but wonder why I live here. It’s actually funny, I went to happy hour last week and it felt like a ghost town. No one was out. No one was walking around. But, there we were, two girls catching up over Rosé Popsicles at Garage East. Sometimes even a horrible heat wave can’t keep you away from good friends and cocktails.

Sunday Funday with Friends

When our good friends, Teri and Danny came over with their newest bundle (baby ClementiMe – as Colton calls her), I couldn’t help but imagine what my life would be like with another baby in the mix. But then that notion was quickly squashed when I was holding baby Clementine and couldn’t keep my eyes on the three other kids running around my feet and trying to crawl into my lap. Props to those families with over three kids. I couldn’t do it!

In fact, while we were visiting, it suddenly became very quiet in our house (which is always an indicator that something is up). Sure enough, Nolan (my 16 month old) comes strolling out of the bathroom with my eyeliner on! All I could think of was … OMG that stuff is so expensive! That little squirt. Which proved even further that I wouldn’t be able to function with any more children.

We’re so thankful for fun Sunday’s like these. The circus tent in the background is super fitting … considering parenthood feels like a bit of a circus sometimes. Anyone else with me on that?

Colton just loved on her so much! He kept asking to hold the baby and would slowly pet her head. He couldn’t get enough. He’s one sweet boy.

And there’s baby Nolan, rocking mom’s favorite eyeliner and his best Zoolander expression.

Teri’s Gorgeous Arcadia Baby Shower

I joke that I have been trying to get my friend, Teri pregnant for years! The time has finally come, as she and Danny are expecting their first bundle of joy in November. They aren’t going to find out the gender so it’s been incredibly hard to contain myself from indulging in girl clothes (that’s my guess!) and tons of pink and purple shenanigans. And even though it’s killing me not to know, I’m super proud of them for sticking to their guns and doing this their way.

This past Saturday, our mutual friend Rachel, owner of Outstanding Occasions and event planner extraordinaire, hosted the most magical baby shower at her home. Rachel went over the top to ensure every little detail was as beautiful and as personal as the next. It was the perfect afternoon to celebrate one of the coolest couples we know. If you are fortunate enough to know Danny and Teri then you know their baby is going to be one lucky girl. Or, boy.

Below are a few photos I captured from Teri’s special day.

Meet Rachel. She put on such a wonderful event – I have no idea how she did it, while keeping up with her 10-month-old son at home, but that’s why we call moms like this, Super Moms.

It was a One Hope Wine kind of day. I love One Hope (mostly because I’m drinking for a great cause – check out more here) but I had no idea they make Champagne too. Until this moment, that is. Thanks to Colby for making sure our glasses were always half full.

Can we pause and just look at how BEAUTIFUL this mama is? She is seriously glowing from the inside out. I was secretly hoping she’d be just like me … gain 60lbs, have stretch marks, horrible cravings and super swollen ankles so we could talk about how much pregnancy sucked together later … but, that’s not the case. Proof in the fact that her ankles are perfect and that’s not even a maternity dress. I sigh.

T – I am so incredibly happy for you. You and Danny are going to be amazing parents! Ryan and I can’t wait to get our hands on your little one, we love you both so much. Congratulations, friend!

Holiday Cookies

holiday cookie exchange party

Kelsey, my mom and I attended a holiday cookie exchange last night. Let me just tell you … if a bunch of your mom’s friends invite you to attend a holiday cookie party, you go! You don’t even question it because these ladies know their way around the kitchen. I mean, just look at our sugar loot! PS – I’m on a diet. Doh!

Wine, Babies & Lunch

girlfriends - mom blog

My husband told me that I needed to get out of the house. I was going a little stir crazy being on lock down with Nolan. So, naturally, I called one of my best friends and she immediately agreed to a lunch date. Lunch means wine and lots of conversation in our book. So, that’s exactly what we did. For three hours, to be exact.

Teri is one of my dearest friends and one of those girls who will come over, rock your baby, play with your kids and bring a bottle of wine. What in the world would I do without friends like this in my life. Feeling pretty grateful today for her and for three hours of uninterrupted girl and wine time.

We went to Z Tejas and guess what our waiter’s name was? NOLAN! I am serious. I may have pulled him aside and said, “Nolan!!! I love your name? Do you love your name? Do you? Do you?” I was a bit of a creep like that. He was actually named after the baseball player, Nolan Ryan. Ahem, that’s my son’s name!

Ahhh … today was a great day.

Party in the USA!

Where do I even start? We had the best Fourth of July in Pinetop surrounded by family & friends. My in-laws hosted a party in the pines with live music, barbecue, too-much dessert, fire pits and all the drinks you could want. My parents and best friends were in town as well, so together, we gathered around and enjoyed this remarkable holiday as one big family.

It was all fun and games until Colton woke up from nap and realized everyone was at his cabin. It took him about 45 minutes to be okay with the notion that these people were here to stay. Once he warmed up, and let go of my leg, we were all happy campers again.

I can’t put my finger on it, but I love this photo so much. Thank you, Teri, for snapping it! My husband is pushing two kids on a swing and entertaining two others. And if you look reeeeally closely on the tree (front and center) you’ll see a squirrel wearing a helmet.

Thank you to my father-in-law for hosting such a memorable weekend and 4th of July party at the cabin. A lot of work goes into these things (especially when it rains and you have to move everything into the garage last-minute) and I am truly grateful!

We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating America’s birthday too!

Sabrina’s California Bridal Shower

california bridal shower

Amongst all the bridesmaids (yep, there’s ten of them – two not pictured) and the gorgeous bride (center, in white) there are three little flower girls in this photo. Kelsey included. If this moment captured is any indication of how this wedding is going to go, Sabrina and my brother, Shaun, will have the wedding of the year!

It was such a beautiful weekend in Newport Beach, showering my soon to be sister-in-law with love and presents. My mom and I took Kelsey out for a girls-only weekend and in addition to the bridal shower, we found time to go to the beach, get mani/ pedis, shop and dine out with Sabrina’s family. More pictures to come, but for now – here are a few favorites from the bridal shower.

Seriously (and I mean this from the bottom of my heart) it was one of the best bridal showers I’ve been to. So much love & laughter. We were celebrating my brother’s future wife, after all, so that played a huge role in how amazing the day was for my mom and I.

The cutest Kate Spade bag you ever did see! One her best friends gave her this bag (she added the scarf) and you’re supposed to write in fabric pen your new last name. Great bridal shower gift idea!

Above this picture is Kelsey and her “new friends” – Taylor and Riley. They are also flower girls. Kelsey was super shy at first, but within about 20 minutes these girls were playing games by the pool and take pics with each other. See Riley trying to put her arm around Kelsey? Instant friends.

I love you so much Sabrina, but you totally sucked at the games. She got about 3 questions right from, “How well does my groom know me?” Here she is with a giant wad of bubble gum in her mouth (she had to chew a piece for every wrong answer) thinking about her next question.

And here we are, six months pregnant and counting. There’s no hiding this pregnancy anymore, Nolan was there in all his glory. This was truly a wonderful weekend. We are so thankful to all of Sabrina’s friends & family for making this a day to remember. Next up, the wedding!

Teri’s Autumn Holiday Party

holiday party 9

Almost every year, Teri hosts fall party to kick off the holiday season (check out this one from 2011). She’s much better than me, because she actually waits until after Thanksgiving to dial up the Christmas decorations – so truly, this is an autumn party.

Ryan was home with a terrible cold (thanks, Colton & Kelsey) so I went solo. Teri is such a fantastic hostess – and I just loved catching up with dear friends (hi, Rachel) that I don’t get to see as often as I like. She had just the right amount of light, food everywhere, a local guitarist, bar station and all the fixings to make it feel like the holiday season has arrived.

Thank you so much for hosting, Teri! I just love your darling home!

How cute is her house? I’m coming over one day and taking pictures of all the cute designs, little corners and personal touches that make her little bungalow in downtown Phoenix so perfect!
