I started redesigning my home – room by room – to make it feel more like ‘us’. The kids’ playroom is next so naturally I have been scouting different places to get artwork for the blank walls. Sure, I could go to Target and spend $17 on a nice print – but there’s something so special about ordering from independent artists.
I think that’s why I love Minted Art so much. You can customize your own prints, shop by artist or style, or just browse their website for inspiration. That’s what I did. And I landed on these birthstone prints. September, February and December. Done. Done. And done. I’ve had my eye on them for a while and I’m glad I finally ordered them. Check out Minted.com, you may find some great art for your home too.
Before you purchase, check out Minted Offers because you can always find great deals. Happy shopping (and decorating)!
There’s a new store in town called Found. Appropriately named, because the minute I walked into this store I thought to myself. “I found it!” I found the most inspiring home & decor store that I’ve stepped into in a long time. Found Design is like Pottery Barn meets Anthropologie. It’s rustic. It’s cool. It’s modern. Best of all, it’s filled with items that I want in my home. Just take a look!
Just look at this wallpaper! I want it so badly. It would be perfect for a home office or even a dining room. Am I right? I literally walked around this store and said, “I want that. I want that. I really want that. Ooooh, that would look so good in my house.” The store just opened in Chandler (Ray & Chandler Rd.) about 2 weeks ago so if you live in the area, you’ll have to check it out.
Now do you see what I mean? The store is beautiful. There is an area to the left, right when you walk in, that displays merchandise that’s a bit more modern. But as you can see from my lens, I was drawn to their rustic home decor. Kind of makes you want to host a dinner party, doesn’t it?
“A perfectly kept house is the sign of a misspent life.” Why, thank you little book for giving me the reassurance I need that my house (which looks more like a kids toy store these days) is indeed proof that we are having fun around here.
I hope you enjoyed this little photo tour. If you’re an interior designer, decorator, home entertainer or just someone who loves pretty things, I’m sure you can appreciate why I got so inspired today. Make sure you stop in and check out Found Design Co. If you can’t make it in, you can find them online (here). We’ve got to support our local shops.
I owe you more pictures. Better pictures. But I snapped this quick before & after from my iPhone – as we finally finished our kitchen renovation! Wait until you see the sink (my favorite part!) and the cool cabinet features that melt my heart (a cutting board drawer, Lazy Susan cabinet made custom for pots & pans) and double pull out trash can drawer.
The deep drawers, the lighting, everything fits us to perfectly. I promise to give you the full kitchen tour, but to appease my friends who have been asking me (rightfully so) ‘how does it look?’ – here is one angle for you that I did manage to take a photo of. Voilà!
- Bye-bye horrible drop lighting
- Hello, crown molding and higher cabinets
- Soft closing drawers
- Custom cabinets
- Granite countertop
- Stainless appliances
- New tile flooring
- Travertine backsplash
- Glass cabinet faces
- Blanco granite sink & new faucet
Who am I kidding … everything is new. We’re happy, exhausted and never doing this again.
I’ll give you a little sneak peek. This is what our master bathroom looks like. Demo started yesterday. Which means the next 6-8 weeks (fingers crossed) are going to be a mess. We’re renovating our master bathroom, kitchen, downstairs floor, laundry room.
We haven’t used our master bathroom shower in over four years! We literally walk across the hall and shower in the guest room, daily. It’s that bad in there. It smells atrocious in our bedroom right now – installation, wet wood, etc. – but we are so grateful we are getting the chance to renovate. It’s going to feel like a new house. Soon.
I was just talking to a few girlfriends – one is up watching the sunrise with her son. My other friend was up every hour until 3:30am with her toddler. Me? I was up at 11pm, 2am and 4am – also with a teething baby.
The only difference with this quote is, in my house, it’s parents – not just moms. Hey, if I’m going down,, I’m taking my husband down with me. It’s only fair he joins the fun.
Man, toddler attitude is nothing to mess with. At the drop of a hat, they can turn on you. One minute, they are sweet & loving and the next they are acting like an angry teenager. I don’t get it. At least their pouty, dramatic faces make for great photos … and great stories to retell when they’re older.
Can you tell she was mad at me? Who knows what I did. I probably said ‘hi’ wrong, or didn’t have her water waiting for her when she asked, or didn’t let her brush her own hair. Oh, jeez. 3 year olds are a handful, eh?
These little kids of mine remind me to live. To love. To stop and giggle at the little things. To get down on the ground in a patch full of un-mowed grass (ps. grass makes me itch) and hide inside a too-small-for-me kids tunnel until someone comes to find me. It’s games like this that I love.
Its games like this that I never thought I would play as an adult. Candyland. Check. I spy with my little eye. Classic. Hungry Hippos. Of course!
I’m learning that kids really bring out the kid in us. Ryan and I have never been so mature and yet – so immature – in our lives. Oh, these little kids of ours. God bless them.
