A Flytographer in Paris

Paris Flytographer - Krystal

Can you imagine having your own professional photographer follow you around on vacation, snapping candid photos of you and the remarkable scenery that surrounds? A professional photographer who captures exactly what you are seeing, while you stay present in the moment.

Well, my friends … have you heard of Flytographer? They are just that. A team of professional photographers you can hire for candid photo shoots in over 200 cities worldwide! My sister-in-law and brother just hired Flytographer to take photos of their recent trip to Paris. They had the best experience. Their local photographer, Krystal, took pictures on the streets of Montmartre – which is a scenic hill in Paris located in the artistic district. They also got some great shots inside Le Relais de la Butte (a charming cafe) and Patisserie Gilles Marchal bakery.

I was so impressed with how their photos turned out (although, I don’t think I’ve seen these two ever take a bad photo) that it’s inspiring me to start planning our next vacation! Here are some more of their photos that I just adore.

I can’t think of a better way to capture your special moments. In fact, I’m kind of in love with their business model. Check our Flytographer the next time you’re on vacation.

New Years Day!

We got breakfast burritos for the kids and took all of their bikes to the park. Sounds normal, but it was an important day because Kelsey started riding her new bike WITHOUT training wheels! Hallelujah! All it took was a bigger bike and a bit of confidence and she was sailing.

I was a nervous wreck (does that feeling ever go away?) trying to stay within feet of her so I could catch her when she fell. She didn’t need me or Ryan though, this girl was cruising. Colton is starting on his “strider” starter bike. We love it! Have you seen this thing? No pedals to help them glide and learn how to balance. I wish we got one for Kelsey when she was learning to ride.

These little monkeys bring so much joy (and stress, let’s be clear, there is a lot of stress!) to our lives, but the pure love that radiates around us when we are all together is magic. It’s going to be a great year, I can’t wait to discover what’s in store for us.

Happy 2017, friends!

Newborn Photos with Baby Clementine

scottsdale newborn photographer
This is the only photo I’ll post because I want Teri to be the first to post them all, but I had to share one of my favorite moments from Clementine’s newborn baby photoshoot last weekend.

She’s 4 weeks old (and born a preemie) so we wanted to wait to take her photos until she was a bit stronger. She’s already 7lbs and simply perfect. She let Teri and Danny cuddle her, change her, wrap her head in bows … whatever, she was so chill.

Nothing like my baby girl, I’ll tell you that. Seeing your friend in her zone was truly the best part of my day. Welcome to the world, baby Clementine.

Last night we ditched our plans and had a wonderful family picnic outside. In celebration of Family Day today, it was important to step away from the homework, iPhones, TV shows, laundry, swim/gym/soccer practice and just be still, together.  We were excited to partner with Gifts.com to celebrate this initiative. They sent us this amazing farmer’s market gift basket by Cherry Farms Foods.

Colton immediately gravitated toward the candies and Nolan instinctively took all of the fruit and hoarded it like baseballs. Kelsey ate all of the sea salt caramel cookies (can you blame her?) and Ryan and I just indulged in this amazing Phoenix weather. We hope you too take time out of your busy schedules to celebrate Family Day today. Do a board game. Go for a walk. Whatever floats your boat as long as you’re doing it together.

*Thank you to Gifts.com for providing great family gifts (here) to inspire families to reconnect.

Oh, and I got half of a braid in her hair! That was a huge win. She never lets me braid her hair. Half is better than nothing, so it appears we are making some progress over here.

Senior Pictures!

Do you remember your senior photos? My senior photos were horrible. I was in some poor lit studio with a gray backdrop, laying on my stomach with my hands on my chin, right next to the numbers 00 for 2000. Nowadays, kids have it so much better – don’t you think? I had the privilege of taking non-cheesy senior photos of this cute baseball player last night. I love getting the opportunity to take pictures of special milestones like this, here are some pics.

Good luck in college, Ryan. The world is yours!

Winter in Aspen

On Tuesday, I flew to Aspen for business meetings. I was only in town 24 hours before driving to Steamboat Springs to meet with another hotel. Even though my trip was short, it was truly one of the most scenic business trips I have experienced.

I’ve been to Aspen before, except last time I visited in the fall. The town is so different in the winter months. It’s full of activity, adventure, skiing, fur coats, chilly nights, and some of the whitest snow and brightest blue skies that I have seen. .

After the longest-shortest flight of my life (the flight from Denver to Aspen was 27 minutes, but we spent over 2 hours total on the tarmac and another hour waiting at baggage claim), I arrived at The St. Regis Aspen Resort. This was a monumental feeling. I had arrived!

The perfect magazine to describe this resort, it was BEYOND beautiful.

Once I arrived in Aspen I met up with my colleague, Andrea. She loves to ski (and doesn’t have three kids) so she arrived on Saturday and got some time on the mountain. It was our first work trip together and I can’t tell you how much fun we had! It’s all about the people you work with, wouldn’t you agree?

As we were walking to Justice Snow’s for dinner, we spotted this cute little donut cart. I mean … and yes, we did take one dozen donuts into the restaurant and devoured them before actually ordering dinner. They had peanut butter and jelly donuts, maple & bacon donuts, powdered sugar … see what I mean.

If you think the St. Regis Aspen lights up at night, you should see her in the morning. Just before sunrise, I woke up and looked out my window to see the most beautiful shade of gold shining through the resort’s windows. The town was so quiet; the only sound I could hear was a light breeze and snow falling off of the trees. What a great way to wake up. And so … after a morning of meetings, Andrea and I walked around downtown to get one last look at this magical town.

Aspen Mountain

On the drive to Steamboat Springs, we saw deer EVERYWHERE. Our friend, colleague and driver (thanks, Brian!) kept pointing out the animals to me the entire drive. It was like I was a toddler or something. I got so excited to see these amazing creatures. The fact that some people hunt them … well, that’s for a different post.

This was my view of the sunset in Steamboat Springs, Colorado at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. The resort has ski-in/ski-out access so you really can’t get much closer than this. Until next time, Colorado …

The Real Life of Bloggers

I wanted to share a ‘real life’ blogger moment with you. About 2 months ago, I was styling products for Stowaway Cosmetics. I was hosting a giveaway on my mom blog and I wanted to take the perfect photo that would illustrate the size of the cosmetics (because that’s their thing, their cosmetics are just the ‘right size’ and not too large).

I decided my son was the perfect model to showcase the size of the product. So, I set up a little area in his nursery (it’s where I do most of my photo shoots because it has the best natural light) to photograph their products. I got the perfect shot (after about 50 tries) when suddenly, he puked!

Puked!

Baby puked all over the product and my backdrop. Ugh! I had to start all over. It was a real behind-the-scenes moment that I just had to share. Because, to this day, this photo still makes me laugh. Just know … nothing is what is seems on the internet with bloggers. There, I said it.

A Day Spent Volunteering

many hats of a mom blog

Today, my work family and I spend the day volunteering at our local Toys for Tots distribution center. Every year, we pick a day and spend the entire time giving back to our community. It’s a great way for us to work together for a great cause.

many hats of a mom blog

We sorted through toys and toys (and toys!) and bagged them up for deserving families in need so they could have a magical holiday this year. It was amazing to see how many people donate items to Toys for Tots. Bravo, guys.

Don’t we look silly? It’s a good problem to have, surrounded by a gazillion donated toys for kids.

Okay, I just had to post this. My friends are going to kill me because this was supposed to be a joke – I thought posing like we were taking Senior Portraits would be funny. I mean, look at Andrea’s heel point (far right)? Totally casual. I swore I wouldn’t post this, but then I did. Oopsy.

Get out and donate your time this season! Your community will thank you for it.
