The Proud Mamma Hat: 7 months old!

7 months ago we first met. When she was born, the doctor immediately placed her on my chest. And for a moment in time, everything was quiet. No sounds to be heard. Just the three of us. No doctors and nurses running around. No medical equipment making sounds. No flashing photos. No doors slamming. Just us. Her dad and I were sitting in what felt like complete silence.
.
Her little body was wrapped tightly in a pink and blue stripped blanket, and her head was staying warm in a tight cotton cap. Her eyes were glossy and squinted, but I could tell they were a beautiful shade of blue. She was cradled in my arms so tight and secure. Then, she looked at me. Rather, she stared at me and I remember thinking, do you know who I am, baby? I was staring right back at her with the biggest grin on my face. I stroked her left cheek with my right hand – as if she confirm that she was real. I had waited so long to meet her. To look at her. To see this person God trusted me with. After what felt like minutes, but was actually just seconds, the nurses took her across the room to clean her off, to weigh her, and to take her stats.
.
That is when I heard the sounds: The cries, the laughter, the screams, the congratulations, the beeping of the machines, the flashing of cameras, the cell phones ringing, the nurses and doctors talking. And in that moment I realized … our lives have just begun.
..  .
Happy 7 month birthday, baby.

  1. I can’t believe she is 7 months! Wow, she is getting so big and so fast. I love how undoubtedly head over heels in love you guys are with her, it’s so sweet and heart melting. Shows the true bond between parents and children that I think many of us tend to forget once we get older. So happy for your new family, the best is yet to come!!

  2. Awwww … thanks, Rach! You are amazing. It’s so true. A bond, that I never knew could exist. Ever. I can’t wait for you to experience it. Hint. Hint. 🙂
