The Family Hat: Concerts in the Park

I love suburbia for many reasons. It’s family friendly. All my friends live here. And there is a lot to do. In our little bubble, on select weekends, the park around the corner hosts, “Concerts in the Park”. This is a suburban delight that we like to take advantage of. It’s free. It involves music. And it’s a lot of fun.
.
Last weekend, we rocked out to local rock & blues bands, while sitting in the grass enjoying the cool (but not cold) weather. It was my in-laws’ idea to do this. They always find the latest and greatest things to do.
.
As we arrived to the park, Kelsey stayed in her stroller until we got settled. Before I could get the blanket spread out on the grass, the music started. Immediately, my little groupie began to jam. She first wiggled her foot. Then she raised her foot. Then lifted her arms. Then shook her head. After about ten seconds of music, she started to squirm in her stroller, signaling that she wanted to be let out. My mother-in-law lifted her from her stroller and placed her on the blanket with me. Then, she really let loose. She had no rhythm (she gets that from her father) but she was loving every minute of the beat. We stayed until the sun went down, and this child l.o.v.e.d every moment of it. Her parents and grandparents enjoyed watching her rock out.

Did I hear music?
.
I did, I did! I did hear music!
.
Like this, dad?
.
Here I go ...
.
No one can stop me now!
.
Mom, put me down. I'm jammin'.
.
Do we have to leave, Grandma?
