The Family Hat: Disneyland, Part I

Before we left for Kelsey’s first visit to Disneyland, my aunt sent me a text that read, “Relax … and enjoy the magic.” Magic, indeed! Disneyland is such a magical place, as I’m sure you remember very well from your childhood and past visits. But, to see Disneyland through the eyes of a child … that’s when the real magic happens.

We are on day two of the Magic Kingdom and her father and I couldn’t be more proud of her. She gets it. She really gets it. We have met Mickey about 4 times (more to come on that later), watched the snow fall down Main Street USA, ate chocolate covered bananas, sang “It’s a Small World” and met two Princesses.

The streets light up at night and look even more enchanting while the great smells of caramel popcorn and hot chocolate fill the air. You can hear kids yelling in excitement at every turn and watch as other families relish in their moments. I’m all focus on Kelsey though. I watch her eyes light up as she sees a Disney character stroll down the street. I laugh with her when Goofy does something silly. And I curl up with her and close my eyes too as we float down the Pirates of the Caribbean.

There’s something about this place that turns even the oldest adult into a kid again. I can’t wait for our sleeping beauty to wake up and experience more of this place.

These are a few photos from yesterday. More to come!
